Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between therapy, consultancy and divorce coaching?

Divorce coaching is neither therapy nor consultancy. Therapy looks to the past and the reasons for the actions or habits that are making life untenable. Therapy is about recovery. Consultancy gives advice that the client can use to change a given situation.

Divorce coaching looks to the present and future, recognises unproductive habits or actions and suggests techniques for changing these so you can move forward. The reasons may be acknowledged but not dwelt upon.

The coaching client is mentally healthy, ready to move forward, leaving the past behind, focusing on the situation at hand and working on problem solving and personal development.

How long does divorce coaching take?

People vary in what they want to achieve from divorce coaching. The minimum we suggest is three consecutive months. Some people get coached for a year or more if they are undergoing large life changes. The time frame is up to the individual being coached and it is they that will know when divorce coaching can be cut down or stopped.

We would suggest that divorce coaching continue until you reach some of your most urgent outcomes.

What about Confidentiality?

Divorce coaches work within the same ethical boundaries as therapists. Confidentiality is of the highest standard, as are record keeping and professional courtesy.

Is divorce coaching expensive?

The amount of money spent on divorce coaching can save you exponentially in other areas. Divorce coaching is an investment in yourself and your future.

Understanding yourself better and being optimistic about your future can save you much money and heartache while traversing the divorce process.

We charge reasonably for our services and view divorce coaching as a learning mechanism to better life skills for those that undertake it.
